How much does 3D printing cost in India?

The honest answer: most everyday parts cost between ₹150 and ₹2,500. But "it depends" helps nobody, so here is exactly what it depends on — with real numbers you can use.

The pricing formula almost every service uses

3D printing in India is generally priced per gram of material, with the rate covering material cost, machine time, electricity and labour. Typical service rates in 2026:

MaterialTypical rateUsed for
PLA₹9–15 per gramPrototypes, models, décor
PETG₹11–16 per gramFunctional and outdoor parts
ABS₹13–18 per gramEnclosures, automotive parts
TPU (flexible)₹18–25 per gramGaskets, grips, cases
Carbon fibre nylon₹30–45 per gramEngineering-grade parts

Most services (ours included) also have a minimum order of around ₹150, because setting up a 5-gram print takes the same effort as a 50-gram one.

Three worked examples

  1. Phone stand, PLA, 45 g: 45 × ₹9 = ₹405.
  2. Product prototype housing, PETG, 180 g, fine quality: 180 × ₹11 × 1.25 = about ₹2,475.
  3. 100-piece batch of clips, PETG, 8 g each: per-piece minimum ₹150 doesn't apply to batches the same way — with a 20% bulk discount the run lands near ₹7,040, under ₹71 per clip.

What makes a print more expensive

  • Weight, not size. A large hollow model can cost less than a small solid one. Infill percentage matters more than dimensions.
  • Quality setting. Fine 0.12 mm layers take roughly 60% longer than standard 0.2 mm, so most services add 20–30%.
  • Supports. Overhanging designs need support material you pay for and we throw away. Good design orientation can cut this dramatically.
  • Material choice. If PLA works for your use case, don't pay nylon prices — see our material comparison guide.

How to reduce your price

Ask for standard quality unless the part is cosmetic. Accept 15–20% infill for non-structural parts. Batch your orders — discounts start at 10 pieces. And send a clean STL so no CAD repair charges apply (our STL preparation guide covers this in five minutes).
